PRAY

Roll the prayer cube for the prayer or use Sunday’s Prayer of the Day-

Holy God, our strength and our redeemer, by your Spirit hold us forever, that through your grace we may worship you and faithfully serve you, follow you and joyfully find you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

John 1:40-42

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John’s witness and followed Jesus. The first thing he did after finding where Jesus lived was find his own brother, Simon, telling him, “We’ve found the Messiah” (that is, “Christ”). He immediately led him to Jesus.

Jesus took one look up and said, “You’re John’s son, Simon? From now on your name is Cephas” (or Peter, which means “Rock”).

TALK

Jesus changes Simon's name the Greek word for Rock--Peter. Jesus changed his name because he wanted Peter to be strong like a rock and start the Christian church. What do you think Jesus wants you to do with your life? Can you think of what he would change your name to be to help you remember what he wants you to do?
