CIC Regathering Information

1.     Before Coming to Worship:

  • Starting on April 4th, indoor and outdoor worship services will be offered at CIC on Sunday mornings. The liturgy at both services will be the same and blended in style.

  • Because capacity is limited at each service, attendees will need to sign-up in advance either by calling the office or by utilizing our online registration program.

  • On the day of worship, if you answer yes to any of the following questions, please stay home:

    • Have you had any of the following new/unexplained symptoms in the past 24 hours: temperature of 100.0F or higher, cough, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach?

    • Do you live with anyone who has received a positive COVID-19 test result within the past 14 days?

    • Do you live with anyone who has any of these symptoms or has been tested for COVID-19 and is waiting on a test result?

*If you are in any way feeling unwell, please stay at home.

2.     Arriving at Worship (indoors):

  • Entrance to the church will be only through one of the main front doors under the portico.

  • You must wear a mask—please bring your own. If you forget or don’t have one, one will be provided for you.

  • Hand Sanitizing stations will be positioned by the entrance and throughout the building.

  • Upon entering the building, you will be met by a greeter who will cross reference your name and contact information with the sign-up sheet. Should the need arise, this information can be shared with public health officials to do contact tracing.  A quick temperature check with a no-touch forehead thermometer will also occur at this point.

  • When waiting to be seated, please maintain six feet of distance between you and others. Seating is set up to maintain six feet of distance between you and others not in your family unit. Please do not rearrange seats unless directed by an usher.

  • Distribution of handouts, such as bulletins, will be minimized. All pertinent worship related items and announcements will be on the screens in the sanctuary and will also be accessible via e-mail and online resources.

  • An usher will greet you at the piano side-entrance and will escort you to a section of seating that is at least 6 feet away from other attendees.

  • Bathrooms are available, but only one person/family unit should be in the bathroom at a time.

  • There will be no nursery available.

3.     During Worship:

  • There will be no congregational singing. One lead vocalist will raise our praises and prayers on our behalf.

  • The liturgy will be altered to limit communal speaking.

  • The passing of the peace is to be done by virtue of no physical touch (eye contact and slight bow, extension of the peace sign, etc).

  • Offering plates will only be touched by ushers/assistants.

  • Holy Communion will be distributed in pre-packaged containers. Worshippers will have communion brought to them.

  • Sanctuary doors will remain open throughout before, during, and after worship.

4.     After Worship:

  • Rows will be dismissed by ushers starting with the back and moving forward.

  • You may exit out any doors.

  • The pastors will position themselves outdoors to greet parishioners.

  • No fellowship hour or coffee time will be taking place.

  • Please keep your masks on until you return to your vehicle.

  • If you test positive for Covid-19 within 48 hours of attending worship, please contact the church office.

5.     Additional Safety Precautions Taken Indoors:

  • The worship area and other touch points (bathroom doors) will be cleaned with a “spray and go” cleaner that kills the virus on surfaces shortly after application.

  • The speakers and singer will be positioned behind plexiglass.

  • Removable screens will be placed on various doors surrounding the sanctuary to increase air flow.

CIC cares about the wholistic well-being of every person who walks through its doors. The church is striving to keep the people who gather within our facilities as safe as possible.  Anyone who gathers at CIC in person assumes all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. By signing up to attend worship services, you are acknowledging your understanding of that risk as well as your necessary role in following protocols that are intended to keep our spaces as safe as possible for everyone in attendance.
